Guitar Hero business model shifting toward annual subscription?

Activision-Blizzard has revealed that it will be looking at new business models for future iterations of its popular Guitar Hero series, which include a subscription-based service for its downloadable content.

Speaking at Activision-Blizzard’s Analysts Day (via Shacknews), Activision's CEO Mike Griffith spoke of the popularity of Guitar Hero downloadble content.

"Consumers have downloaded over 20 million individual songs for the franchise, and they still tell us they want more,” he enthused.

With so much content on offer, Grifffith believes that an annual fee,  “where players can subscribe and get a certain number of songs downloadable each month.” could be the way forward.

But, would you be happy to subscribe to a service without knowing the monthly track-listing in advance? It doesn't really sound that appealing.

 Griffith also suggested that more artist-specific Guitar Hero titles may well be on the cards.

Although it hasn't been confirmed officially by Activision-Blizzard, a recent Rolling Stone interview with Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash has suggested that the next artist-specific Guitar Hero game could well feature Jimi Hendrix.

But, would you be happy to subscribe to a service without knowing the monthly track-listing in advance?
Personally, no, not a hope in hell. I want to know what I'm getting before I pay for it.
Provided Activision stepped up the pace with which they release DLC to a point where they're putting out say an LP every couple of weeks and a couple of EP sized track packs a week to choose from I'd be more than happy to pay an annual/monthly subscription fee, I'm done with buying plastic instruments again and again every year.
