Although Sony has yet to even confirm the existence of a new PS3 firmware update, CVG claims that a development source has told them that the next update v2.5 will add screen-grabbing functionality.
No more details have been given, but we assume that this will mean we'll be able to take shots of ourselves, maybe sitting in our underwear or pulling silly faces, and then upload them to the server to share with our friends or maybe use them as a backdrop to the user interface.
Until Sony confirms, treat his rumour with a heavy pinch of salt.
