Brum boys do it the UK!

At the final event in the CGS World Series, UK team Birmingham Salvo romped home to a first place position landing themselves a tidy $500,000 USD first prize.

Beating off San Francisco OPTX in the final at an easy 22-15, pulling out such a lead as to not even need completing the final rounds of CS:Source. The team, under the guidance of General Manager Michael 'Odee' O'Dell, also take away some silverware in the form of the Mountain Dew Championship Trophy.

The passage to the finals looked to be an easy one for Salvo after the Quarter Finals win over Furia 22-19 but the Semi Final was a closer run thing with Salvo holding a slim margin over Core at 21 - 20. This narrow win must've fired up the Salvo players as they went into the Finals...

CGS is played over five games featuring FORZA Motorsport 2, FIFA 08, Dead or Alive 4 (female players), Dead or Alive 4 (males players) and Counter-Strike Source.

After some incredibly tight racing, Salvo were 5-2 on top with Daveyskills and Picaso landing a first and third to give Salvo the lead after the first game. Next up was Bazza, the FIFA 08 specialist, who took full advantage of a botched corner kick from OPTX player, Stermy, and then ran the length of the pitch to score a goal that wouldn't have been amiss in a real life Greatest Goals compilation. In the same half Bazza managed to sneak another before STermy pulled back one for a 2-1 half time score. Despite both players having some good tries, Bazza managed to hold onto his lead in the second half for a 2-1 win.
