Rumbled...
A big thanks to El Reg for this one... and I won't spoil their good detective work by linking to all the evidence, click the link and have a look for yourself.The gist of it is this: Ubisoft released an update for Rainbow Six Vegas 2 that included a Cd check, even though it was an online delivered version, which obviously has has no CD to be checked... therfore the game wouldn't run!
In an attempt to possibly quell the noise from a braying mob of gamers, an Ubisoft employee uploaded a fix and everyone was happy... until an eagle-eyed gamer noticed the 'fix' was using a no-CD crack from the notorious Reloaded pirating crew...
Cue red faces and investigations all-round at Ubi HQ... and yes, the 'fix' has been pulled. Lord knows what they're going to do to re-patch and fix the fix.
