Tom Clancy series and more

Valve has today confirmed a partnership with Ubisoft that will see 40 titles from the French developer's catalogue released on the Steam digital download service.

Starting today, the PC version of Assassin's Creed is available for pre-purchase and over the coming weeks Ubisoft will release games from the Tom Clancy series, the Heroes of Might & Magic series, the IL-2 Sturmovik collection, and many more.

The Ubisoft line-up on Steam will be the largest library of titles available from any single publisher or developer.

Ubisoft's upcoming titles due for release in the first half of 2008 include the PS3 exclusive Haze, Brothers In Arms Road to Hill 30 on Wii and Assassin's Creed on PC.

The assassins creed page doesn't work for me (on steam) so i can't see how much they're charging… I've got this on preorder on physical media so i'd be interested to know..
I always thought one of the advantages of Steam would be that the games would be cheaper than retail?

I was contemplating buying Call of Duty 4 on the PC the other day (just to play with some old clan mates) and found they were charging some $70 for it! :surprised: It's cheaper to get the retail box from most high street shops.
None of the links work yet
I was reading somewhere that they are starting their distribution via Steam in USA and Canada to start with. Probably why the links arn't working for us yet.

You're thinking like a consumer… Now think like a publisher - Why charge less than your standard retail price when you can charge the same amount and make the difference back in raw profit?
