To sway public opinion?

Following the recent publication of the Byron report, which examines and discusses the use of classification in videogames and the role of policing any changes that are made, a grubby discovery has been uncovered by videogames website MCV.

MCV has found a posting on talent-recruiting website StarNow.co.uk, which reveals that an unnamed newspaper is prepared to dish its dirty cash to anyone who is prepared to write a few lines about how computer games turned them to crime.

The posting states:

“A national newspaper wants your story and will pay hundreds of pounds to the right person”.

“Write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it's something we like, we'll call you straight back.”

If they like what they see, they’ll give you a call back. It’s amazing what the offer of cash can make people do or say. This will no doubt turn into a full page article into how the likes of Grand Theft Auto turned innocent Little Jimmy into a crack-smoking rapist.

We’re sure cash payments are standard practice amongst many media outlets, but we’d certainly like to name and shame the newspaper in question.

With government ministers currently debating on violence in videogames and the safety of our children, this offer of cash for an anti-game story smells a bit foul.

I see ‘national newpaper’

I read ‘News of the World’
This is a _sick_ way of getting more getting more anti-game views in peoples minds.
The damned advert doesn't even say it requires the stories to be verifiable (read:true). I know that it may be hard to prove that games turned you to crime or not but this is RIDICULOUS!:angst:
