Gonna start a revolution?

The Guitar Hero franchise looks set to rake in even more cash if the wishes of the music publishing company that owns the copyright to the Lennon-McCartney collection are realised.

Martin Bandier, Chairman and CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing said that he’d be interested in creating a standalone Beatles edition for Guitar Hero.

"It's something we have talked about and something I'd like to pursue," he told the Los Angeles Times.

The Beatles songs have been one of the most protected back-catalogues in music history, but recently the publisher has loosened its grip on the material and allowed songs from Lennon and McCartney to be sung on the hugely popular American Idol show.

At this moment in time, Red Octane and Activision haven’t expressed any interest in creating a Beatles game, but surely now that the first move has been made, it’s a deal that just has to be struck.
