You commoners aren't invited

The power-house of a game engine that powers the critically acclaimed first person shooter, Crysis, is set to be demoed for the first time at the Game Developer’s Conference later this month on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Only a select audience has been invited to the showing of the CryENGINE 2 game development middleware and their Sandbox 2 game editor on both platforms, but any members of the public attending will be able to attend a demonstration showing how well the fully optimized engine can perform on a budget PC which can be put together for around 600 dollars.

They’ll be a number of other presentations on offer ranging from live demonstrations of rapid level creation using the Sandbox 2 editor, working with the next generation features of the CryENGINE 2 animation system, adding immersive sound and interactive music to your game, to a discussion of the overall CryENGINE 2 design, graphical pipelines and overall architecture.

Stay tuned to HEXUS.gaming for updates from GDC when it kicks off on February 18th.

Hmm im wondering what the results will be.
As an ex PC gaming enthusiast and now a poor. married and thus banished to a world of static platforms Consol kid i can appreciate both views. u need a monster rig to power crysis, but the consoles are still quiet fresh and powerful in there own rights, and with the ability to optimise when developing for a consistant platform i think the potential is there for some REALLY good looking games if they pull it off right!
I guess it's going to have to be toned down, but it sure is going to interesting to see it running on both consoles.
