2008 promises further success.

Based on figures by independent research companies, Nintendo's European sales figures show that the Wii has broken the 6 million barrier, whilst the DS has sold approximately 20 million units since its launch.

Of course that figure would have been higher if supply would have met demand since the launch of Wii in December 2006, but nevertheless it's an impressive figure. The popularity of the console has also seen four first party Wii titles; Wii Play, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party 8 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, each sell in excess of over one million units across Europe.

At the same time, the handheld Nintendo DS console has proved a firm favourite amongst Europeans with titles from Animal Crossing: Wild World to Big Brain Academy and Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl proving to big hits.

Mario Kart DS has seen 2 million copies race of the shelves of retailers across Europe and New Super Mario Bros has sold over 3 million copies to date. Super Mario Galaxy on Wii has broken the 1 million barrier within a few months of launch!

The table below lists European sales figures as of the beginning of January 2008. These are sell-through figures based upon retail sales in each European country that are provided by independent research companies.
