On his way to Sweden or Germany?

Stefan Eriksson, the ex-Gizmondo exec who managed to tear a Ferrari Enzo in two, has been released early from his Californian jail and is soon to be deported to either Sweden or Germany.

The ex-Gizmondo exec was arrested after crashing a Ferrari Enzo said to be worth more than $1 million USD, which he didn't actually own but had imported illegally into the US after procuring the car from a Scotland based company. After his arrest Eriksson claimed that someone else had been driving the car but blood found on the driver's airbag matched Eriksson's, proving he was in the driving seat at the time of the crash. The unknown 'other' occupant was never found.

Eriksson pleaded no contest at his trial for embezzlement in November 2006 and was given a three year sentence. In December 2007 he was moved to a Los Angeles detention centre whilst awaiting travel documents from the Swedish consul.

Regular readers will fondly remember Eriksson's name cropping up in an article we posted a while back, commenting on apparent nepotism and dodgy deals revealed in 2005 Gizmondo Financial Report, which makes for some fun reading.

After Gizmondo's collapse with debts in excess of $200 million USD and multiple lawsuits pending for breached contracts, Eriksson and his Gizmondo associates have yet to be called to order over the debacle...
