Working on untitled RPG for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC

American publisher, THQ has forged an agreement to acquire Big Huge Games, the developers behind Civilization II.and the Rise of Nations series.

According to MSN money, Big Huge Games will retain its 100 local employees, offices (in Maryland) and its name. The acquisition will help it focus more of its attention and resources on developing creative games as THQ offers a platform for it to grow.

The deal is said to be similar to another deal that THQ struck in 2006 with Juice Games, the developers behind Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, which gave the team much needed funds and the creative freedom to be able to work without financial pressure on the next iteration of the series.

THQ must feel that Big Huge Game’s next title will be worth the investment. The next game due for release by the company is an untitled RPG set for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2009.

The acquisition fee has not been disclosed.
