Ice skating, skateboarding and monters!

Nintendo's Christmas gift to you comes in the shape of three new retro titles that are now available for download via the Virtual Console.

Its not the most exciting line-up for the Christmas period, but the three titles are cheap enough to buy and shouldn't break the bank if you're looking for some extra retro fun this holiday period . First up is Konami's classic NES ice-hockey game Blades of Steel, which will cost you 500 Wii points (Ā£3.50). Continuing with the sporty theme is Electronic Art's NES skateboarding game, Skate or Die (er...Die please), for 500 points. Last, and certainly least is the TurboGrafx-CD game, the platform shooter, Monster Lair, which will cost you 800 points.

Check out these tiny screenshots of the three new titles:

I thought being a Christmas gift and all, it'd be free!

Are neither Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony giving away anything for free this Christmas? Bah humbug!

Get on the phone to them Steven, we want freebies! :angst:
Hey they gave us free controller jackets which was nice :D

Yeah, true. I was hoping for something slightly more festive on the VC.
Not quite free, but (according to that new news tab thingy on the dashboard) MS are letting you download the HD version of the film ‘300’ for 100 pts on the 28th December instead of however many pts it usually costs. Noticed it yesterday before it died. Was tempted as I haven't seen 300 yet, but as my 360 is no more, I won't be able to.
So not quite free from Nintendo, not quite free from Microsoft.

Come on Sony, this is your opportunity!
