A round of applause for Sony Ericsson and Samsung
We may love Nintendo for their unique videogames, but Greenpeace, whose aim it is to expose global environmental problems, don't care much for gaming and has made Nintendo enemy number one after awarding the company the first ever zero rating in their Guide to Green Electronics. The company has been criticised for taking too long to phase out toxic chemicals from their game consoles and Greenpeace claim that Nintendo hasn't 'provided information to consumers on the substances it uses.' Microsoft aren't getting away with it either and has received a 2,7 ranking, coming third from bottom in the list of 18 companies.
The most nature-friendly companies under the criteria were Sony Ericsson and Samsung, each scoring 7.7 points.
Some analysts have questioned Greenpeace for not conducting their research properly, claiming that they rely too much on corporate reports rather than hands-on investigations. Greenpeace are hoping that Nintendo will now act on the bad publicity, provide more details into their manufacturing practices, whilst helping where they can to prevent our planet from 'dying'.
Nintendo are yet to comment on the matter.
